New Firefox (and IE) Sidebar update!

•July 29, 2006 • Leave a Comment

Now has a spell checker in it, which is run on ajax. But because I can’t place the spell checker into the content box, I made a box below that allows you to check (it’s ajax).

The coolest (and most beta feature) is the one that allows you to add to dictionary. But it’s beta! I have no idea if it will work with your firefox or not (works with mine). Yeah. So if you installed from http://gamespotting.net/wordpressidebar.xpi you will be getting the update soon, otherwise you will have to wait 2 weeks for the version to come out on mozilla (yeah it takes that long for it to appear on mozilla).

Enjoy!

new sidebar

UPDATE: All users of the IE will not have to redownload their sidebar to get the new spell checking feature. (If you’re technical here is why: the sidebar uses a type of dynamic feature because local files can’t be used in an IE based sidebar [only exe] so, inorder to have the sidebar work it must get data from an external file).

So what is ruff cooking up now?

•July 27, 2006 • 4 Comments

Well other than his wishlist on amazon.com, I have been trying to decide what to code next. And I came up with some ideas. But I need to know which one sounds better. So you can comment back with your votes and/or suggestions.

So here are my ideas:

  1. Have a firefox extension that adds the new wordpress bar to sites that you visit
  2. Some sort of Konqueror (whatever that browser is named) Sidebar
  3. Spell Check to the wordpress sidebar.
  4. WordPress.com toolbar (maybe..but I already have 6 toolbars [counting the bookmarks and tabs])

So post your votes and/or comments in the comments section…and maybe your idea will become a widget.

Well it’s another generator…..

And no it doesn’t keep my lights on. har har har. Anyway, I didn’t want IE users to feel left in the dark with the firefox search plugin generator…..so…I…didn’t do anything about it.

JUST KIDDING! The ruffman does treat his fetchers like that does he? ..that was rhetorical..please don’t answer. Anyway! I made another thing that generates blog search features. This time it makes google buttons! for IE users! This way you don’t leave your IE readers alone out…in..the dark world of trying to find a post on your blog…..it’s creepy..and filled…with GHOST CATS! AH! I am gonna hide below the Fetch 3000. Oh and here is your link:

2 new things

Well wordpress.com took my widgets and made them their own. They also made a gadgets page too. http://wordpress.com/gadgets so that’s pretty cool. I also updated the bookmarklet. Now you don’t have to copy or paste anything you can just simply right click and bookmark. It also now has a close button (which is dosawesome!) and it’s a bit faster because I am not using innerHTML anymore.

Enjoy everyone.

It’s teh DOSAWESOME! So I was thinking about search engines when suddenly I thought, “Hey, why don’t I make a firefox search plugin generator for wordpress.com blogs?” Then BAM! I made a simple (yet powerful), wordpress search engine generator! You can even add it to your site! If you look at the bottom of my sidebar you can see that it’s been added. Go make your own for your site! Check it out!

Noice! The google homepage widget now works with google pages

•July 21, 2006 • Leave a Comment

wordpressongpagesSo I added a bit of code in and now the google homepage widget works with google pages (if it shows an error message it’s because adding widgets into googlepages is still beta. Just click add again). Now you can have your own secret private page where you can access your wordpress blog from it. Now that’s multitasking! I look cute in a sailor’s outfit.
